This learning event is right for you if you are a classroom teacher wanting to explore strategies for having productive and positive conversations with parents.


You have a fully booked schedule of parent teacher interviews and want to engage in meaningful conversations. A parent rings to discuss an issue and you want to respond in a productive and professional manner. In this one-hour webinar we’ll look at two common interactions with parents, discuss some possible strategies and look at what the research says. We all want our conversations with parents to lead to positive outcomes for students and this is an opportunity to consider preparation, reactions and how to move forward.

Presenter information

Joey Yigit           

Joey Yigit is the Health & Physical Education Coordinator, a Mathematics teacher and a Year Eight Tutor at Melbourne Grammar School – Wadhurst. His teaching philosophy stems from creating a safe environment, in which students feel comfortable to show initiative and challenge themselves in a setting that fosters learning. Joey is motivated to bring a dynamic and modern pedagogy to the classroom in which various types of learners are engaged. He feels strongly about being able to communicate effectively to students and staff, provide feedback and use different styles of teaching to meet the needs of all students. Joey sees each individual as unique and believes achievement should be assessed in various forms. Outside of the classroom he is a keen beach volleyball athlete and coach. Joey is currently competing on the Australian circuit, and coaching juniors at a national level. Through this experience, he hopes to collaborate, share and create new and improved learning experiences that are meaningful for students.
